I was born and raised on a chicken farm in Abbotsford, BC. To this day, we are still farming chickens however have we have added cattle to the farm over the years. Growing up we were a 4-H family, first members then a leader for 11 years. The Friesens and KFC Farms were active in the Angus breed for 25 years, hosting our annual purebred Angus sale from 2007 – 2011. KFC still has a partnership in a 550 cow/calf operation in Central BC. The Speckle Park Breed caught my interest at Agribition in 2014.
Outside the cattle industry, we have been involved in construction and land development since the 1980s, which has lead to other manufacturing opportunities. My wife Judy and I have three adult boys, two are married and one grand- daughter who will soon be dragging cattle around the farmyard.
There are lots of outside interests, but my passion has always been the cattle.
Born and raised on our family farm in Freelton, ON where for the first 17 years we had a commercial beef cow/calf operation, then expanded to a purebred Simmental herd. For 32 years I've been involved with the Simmental breed, first with Dad and then managing other top programs. I have had the pleasure of learning from some of the most astute cattlemen in the beef industry. I've had the opportunity to travel and do business around the world, breed champions and put bulls into AI studs for global use. All these things sound great however I believe that my greatest success has been breeding better cattle for our commercial cattlemen to make a living. I will promise you that at KFC Farms you can expect honesty, integrity, a quality product, customer service and of course hospitality. I look forward to learning more about this incredible breed called Speckle Park and can't wait to meet you and take you for a tour.
